“Wetlands are of huge importance; they prevent things like flooding, they hold water, they purify water, of course, they’re also really good at capturing carbon so it’s great for [responding to] climate change, but they don’t get a lot of love […] but what they are creating is amazing infrastructure for the environment. They do not only good for plants and animals, but they’re also really important for humans. One key word there is water retention—so preventing flooding—which is obviously a very big topic these days.”
