On Thursday, April 15, the radio program Maritime Noon had special guests to talk about the balance (or lack thereof) between development and conservation in the Maritime Provinces.

Allan Shaw is a developer and the namesake of the 154-hectare Shaw Wilderness Park in Halifax.

“In a deal between the company [Shaw Group], the regional municipality, and the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the popular area has become a park, forever,” host Bob Murphy explains.

Karen McKendry is the Wilderness Outreach Coordinator at the Ecology Action Centre.

Stephen Adams is the executive director of the Urban Development Institute in Halifax.
