1st Session, 64th General Assembly
Introduced by Gary Burrill
First Reading: October 15, 2021
Background: Gary Burrill, leader of the NDP, originally introduced An Act Respecting
Parks and Protected Areas, otherwise known as the Owls Head Act. Mr. Burrill initially tabled the Owls Head Act (Bill 231) on February 26, 2020. When Premier McNeil prorogued (discontinued) the Legislature, all of the bills on the table died.
It was then re-introduced by the NDP’s Lisa Roberts, on March 25, 2021. Once again, the bill did not pass during the Legislative Assembly.
Update: Bill 19 (the Owls Head Act) was defeated on November 3, 2021, by the Progressive Conservative majority.
